ELZORVAN Wood — furniture with grandchildren in mind

Every house needs one chair that belongs to somebody; the Kotlik is usually claimed within a week — pitched for books rather than naps (though it forgives them), with an ottoman cut from the same hide.

The joinery works in solid oak, walnut and ash, air-dried three years before the saw earns its say. Frames are mortise-and-tenon, tops are breadboard-ended against the seasons, and finishes are oil and wax — surfaces that mend with a cloth rather than fail with a scratch.

Care

Keep solid wood a metre from radiators and out of noon sun; wood moves with the seasons and forgives households that remember it is alive. Breadboard ends may proud a millimetre in January — that is engineering, not error.

Hinges take a drop of oil yearly; drawers a candle-stub of wax on the runners. Everything else is decades.

Questions, Answered

Can I order a different finish?
Oil tones and wax colours are chosen at order from the house book; painted finishes are a commission with a stated lead time. Wood is matched to your sample when the concierge is sent one.

Is the furniture solid wood?
Solid oak, walnut and ash throughout — tops, frames and drawers; veneer appears only where marquetry asks for it and is stated when it does. The chalk under every piece names the joiner.

The ELZORVAN Promise

Every ELZORVAN piece states its materials as contract, not poetry: copper gauge in millimetres, porcelain firing in degrees, linen weight in grams per square metre — printed on the card in the box and honoured on the bench for fifteen years.
